Digital Advertising Alliance Announces Enforcement of Cross-Device Guidance to Begin February 1, 2017
Cross device tracking provides advertisers the opportunity to serve consumers the same ads across all their devices, whether it be on their smartphone, tablet, or desktop. According to Digiday, “The goal of cross-device tracking is to be able to know that the person using smartphone x is the same person who uses tablet Y and laptop Z, and then allow brands to retarget that person accordingly.” The DAA recently enforced guidance on cross-device, which will begin February 1, 2017.

Mobile Guidance Launching in Canada
The Digital Advertising Alliance in Canada (DAAC) recently announced their self-regulatory program will be encompassing mobile as of November 1st, with the launch of a new document titled the Application of Self-Regulatory Principles to the Mobile Environment. In addition to the new guidance, AppChoices will become available to Canadian consumers starting in January. To round out the program’s enforcement, accountability monitoring for mobile, which is conducted by Advertising Standards Canada (ASC), is set to begin in July 2017.

Make sure that you’ve got an agreement with the DAAC in place. Not sure if your company has signed up? Check the DAAC’s participant’s page to see. To join the program and use the AdChoices icon in Canada, simply fill out their registration form and a representative will be in touch.
