What is the GDPR?
The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which becomes effective May 25, 2018, is an overhaul to the EU’s existing data protection laws. It’s aim is to give power over personal data back to the person. In order to achieve this goal, the GDPR provides the individual new rights, and requires a high level of corporate accountability. Since the GDPR applies to any organization offering its services to an EU resident, or is involved in monitoring an individual’s Internet behavior, it will apply to almost everyone.
